Welcome

You can chose between two different places to stay. There is the restored Old Mill or the newly built traditional cottage. Both are welcoming, comfortable, warm and spacious.

The Old Mill

This 'rescued' and modernised Mill provides spacious and very comfortable accommodation which is full of character.

1 Riverside Cottage

This newly built cottage offers a very comfortable and 'up-to-date' interior within a traditional exterior.

Where to eat

North Mull boasts excellent options for eating including Croft 3 which is a 5 minute drive from Achleck.The Hen House and The Boathouse on Ulva. For more eating options see here.

Natural World

Whether you fancy some Puffin Therapy, some up-close Eagle Action, or to visit a Natural Wonder or to explore an Iron Age Broch all are within just a short drive.

Public Transport

Mull is served by Calmac Ferries.
There are some bus routes which are run by West Coast Motors and we do have Community Transport available. All this means it is possible (with careful planning) to explore the area on Public Transport.

The Local Area

This area is a National Scenic Area and is also known for the wildlife that surrounds us. There are a number of ways of exploring this area: you can join an organised tour by land or sea, you can hire bikes, you can walk, as well as driving. There are also wonderful places to visit, to eat out, to see and to buy local crafts.

  • The Hen House "is a little gem of a place" which sells take-away teas, coffee, soup and a lovely selection of home baking and crafts. So worth a visit!
  • The Bellachroy " is our nearest pub in Dervaig village
  • Am Birlinn "a restaurant situated in a beautiful location just off the Dervaig - Calgary road at the Croig junction.
  • Ar Bord Serving adults and children from 12 years and older, Ar Bord is a family run restaurant from their home on the hill on the way out of Devaig, serving local produce whenever possible, and is a BYOB restaurant. Email dervaigrestaurant@outlook.com Tel 01688 400647
  • Mull Fine Crafts showcases decorative garden ornaments and other hand-painted and individually made metal items that are available.
  • Lip na Cloiche is an amazing garden which is open to the public. It has been featured in the leading garden magazines and is very well worth visiting. Excellent plants and crafts are available for sale.
  • Ulva just a few miles down the road you can get the small ferry across to Ulva which offers superb walking, wonderful views and good eating at the Boathouse. Ulva is now a community-owned island and has started on a process of planned improvements.

Further Afield

Mull is an incredibly varied island which means it is a delight to explore. Most of the roads on Mull follow the coast and so you are usually only a short distance from the sea. There is also a variety of places to visit. While on Mull it would be a shame if you didn't visit Tobermory the 'capital' of Mull where you'll find the iconic painted houses, the Mull Museum, a number of wildlife tour operators, the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, Europe's First Catch and Release Aquarium, a variety of shops and restaurants and three pubs.

Iona is very well worth visiting, especially when combined with the West Coast Scenic Drive (see below). It is a full day trip and includes a ferry crossing.

The route down the West Coast of Mull via Loch Tuath and then around both sides of Loch na Keal via the B8073 and the B8305 is amazing and is often described as one of the best drives in the UK.
